New Greens

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone!

My year started really well as I received a mail from Paul with photos of new greens for the RJW-Line this morning.

First up are the photos for the next Japanese set RJ-J04 Japanese Troopers, advancing:

These miniatures are meant to depict soldiers on patrol rather than during an assault as their charging comrades do. Therefore they don't have their bayonets fixed and they carry an extra piece of equipment a so called  gassai-bukuro (the thing, that looks like a second bedroll or a rolled greatcoat), by western observers refered to as a 'cloth holdall'.

The gassai-bukuro is a sack made of cloth about 8.5 to 9" resp. 0.22 to 0.22 m wide and  6 to 6.5' resp. 1.83 to 1.93 m long. Both ends are open and it is sewn across  in the middle (where it rests on the soldier's soulder) to form two compartments. It was basically used as a replacement for the bulky knapsack in the field, especially when on patrol duties and such.

Here are the next four dollies for future Japanese miniatures:

And, due to popular request, the first eight Russian dollies:

As you can see, the first sets will represent rather well equipted Russian units.

  2. Hi!

I just read the WSS magazine reviews about Your range. They looks very nice. I already have Russians, and 40+ painted Japanese infantry mix of Redoubt and Old Glory (Boxer Rebelion Japanese are pretty good for the RJW). If I could suggest, try to focus please for the market gaps:
Mounted-dismounted Japanese cavalry, Russian Cavalry mounted-dismounted Madsen LMG team, mounted-dism. Russian cavalry, Chinese workers with big packs, Japanese with land torpedo, etc. The medic figure are a nice choice! As a gamer I can buy plenty basic infantry, but all the other manufacturers are ignore the special packs. We have plenty Russian figures on the market. Improve the Japanese range please!

  3. Thanks for the comments!

@ Janos Balogh: Thanks for the suggestions. Most of them are already on my loooong to do list.

I see your point regarding the specials. However, the next two release 'waves' are already planned and will deal with more 'basic' infantry (Japanese in the next and Russians in the one after that), as the dollies for these are already made.
If everything goes well, one 'special' pack will be included in the next wave and even more after the next two waves.

For me it's important to stick to my release plan and get the basic sets out first.
